The overview map combines the safety score and the WalkScore of each neighborhood. Our formula weights safety at 70% and WalkScore at 30%. Our safety measure calculates the number of homicides per 100,000 people divided by the number of overall crimes per 100,000 people in each neighborhood. The WalkScore is provided by www.walkscore.com. The right sidebar shows how the selected neighborhood compares to the city average in safety and convenience.
